Biography

Councilmember Aimee Melton was elected to the City Council in 2013 and was re-elected in 2017. Aimee serves as Chair of the Finance Committee and is a member of the Public Works and Public Safety Committees. In addition, Aimee serves on the Civilian Pension Board, the Criminal Justice System Management Council and the Omaha/Douglas Public Building Commission.

Aimee and her husband, Scott, have three children, Jacob, Thomas and Jimmy.  Aimee grew up in Omaha, attending St. Robert Bellarmine and Marian High School.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Nebraska-Omaha and a J.D. from Creighton University School of Law. 

After graduating from Creighton Law, Aimee accepted a position as a Deputy Douglas County Attorney in the Domestic Violence Unit.  She entered private practice in 2008 and became the managing partner of Reagan, Melton & Delaney, LLP in 2010. Aimee is a member of the Nebraska, Omaha, Sarpy County and American Bar Associations. 

The Melton family is actively involved in St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church and School.  In her free time, Aimee enjoys golfing with her friends and family, organizing charity events, and attending extra-curricular activities involving her children, nieces and nephew.

Aimee’s vision for Omaha is better government efficiency, less regulation and the creation of new jobs and expansion of business throughout the entire city.
